Hi, I’m Amara
A braider working out of a small studio just off Brixton Hill. It’s just me, so you get one pair of hands from start to finish and my full attention while you’re in the chair.
I’ve been braiding for ten years, most of it here in south London. I started doing friends’ hair at the kitchen table and never really stopped. These days it’s knotless braids, cornrows, box braids and protective styles, with the odd silk press in between.
I work with type 3 and type 4 hair, and I take one client at a time. No rushing, no double-booking, no handing you off halfway through. If you’re not sure what suits your length, texture or how much time you’ve got, send me a photo when you book and we’ll work it out together.
How I work
One client at a time
You have the studio and my attention for the whole appointment. Longer styles are a few hours, so bring headphones and a drink.
Comfort first
Neat partings, no tight tension, and a break when you need one. Braids shouldn’t hurt to sit in.
Booking that sticks
Book online and a deposit holds your slot. It comes off the final price, and 48 hours’ notice moves it if life happens.
Before your appointment
Come with your hair washed, blow-dried and detangled. If that’s not doable, add a wash-and-prep when you book. Bring any extensions we’ve agreed on, or ask me to sort them for you.
